MY CURRENT MAKEUP ROUTINE

A few weeks ago, I had briefly lost my makeup bag at a wedding.  My mom later found it and was able to get it back to me two weeks after.  During those two weeks, I thought I had lost every piece of makeup I owned and scrambled to replace them.  Then, it made me wonder.  Did I really need all of this?  I started evaluating each item that I was about to replace.

I used to be much more into makeup, treating each product like a prized possession.  I obsessively spent hours watching YouTube videos of makeup mavens, and try to recreate their looks.  I was always on the lookout for the next best miracle product, and would constantly update my shopping list on what to buy next.  Nine times out of ten, it was a waste of money, time and product.

These days, I enjoy a rather simple daily routine.  I tend to buy tried-and-true products that work well with my skin tone and don't contain harmful chemicals that make me break out.

In the brief time where I was without my lost makeup, I decided to only replace my brow pencil, concealer and bronzer.  Without them, I look tired and sickly.  I was surprised to find that I was happy with my pared down look.

Here's a list of my current makeup.  I love the ease of use, and the clean ingredients they contain.  I would consider repurchasing everything again.

SUNSCREEN/ CC CREAM/ TINTED MOISTURIZER  :: Andalou Naturals CC Cream SPF 30 - Sheer Nude - $16  This gives me good SPF coverage with a little color to even out my skin tone.  It smells like fresh garden roses.

CONCEALER ::  W3ll People Bio Correct MultiAction Concealer - $23  This is by far the best coverage a concealer can provide.  It covers my dark circle because... mom life.  The texture is light and applies easily.  It has major staying power.  I don't touch up my makeup throughout the day, so it's important that this concealer is able to stay put all day long.  Many makeup artists compare this to the award-winning YSL Touche Eclat Concealer.  This is a cleaner alternative, at a fraction of the price.

BROW PENCIL  ::  Jane Iredale Retractable Brow Pencil - Rich Brunette - $20  I'm super picky when it comes to find a good brow pencil.  And this pencil fits all of my criteria:  retractable (so no product is wasted while sharpening a wood pencil), matches hair color (it's not too dark or too ashy), glides on easily, has realistic hair strokes, and has good staying power.

MASCARA  ::  W3ll People Expressionist Mascara - Black - $22  I have tried most mascaras on the market.  This is one gives me the least amount of panda eyes.

BLUSH ::  Coola Mineral LipLux SPF 30 - $18  This is actually a tinted lip balm that I prefer to use coloring my cheeks rather than lips.  The consistency is creamy and not sticky.

BRONZER  ::  W3ll People Bio Bronzer - $22  A good bronzer is so hard to find.  There have been countless times where I bought a bronzer that made me look orange or dirty.  This Allure Magazine Best of Beauty award winner gives off just the perfect amount of sun-kissed glow.

LIP BALM  ::  Waxalene All Natural Petroleum Alternative - $10.99  This is much more than just a lip balm for me.  I've used it for cuts, bug bites, dry cuticles, and even diaper rash for my baby.  I fell and received two stitches on my eyebrow last year.  With the help of Waxalene, my scar is barely noticeable now.  Yeah, it's that good.
