AN ECO-FRIENDLY EASTER BASKET

Can you believe Easter is right around the corner?  Where did the time go?  Not sure if it's just me but I feel like this year is going by faster than normal.  Last Easter, Jace was barely a month old and I was completely sleep-deprived so it was tough getting into the holiday spirit.  I didn't get him an Easter basket, but I did manage to snap a quick photo of him in a beanie with bunny ears though.

As I put together Jace's Easter basket this year, I decided to forego all of the plastic and disposable options in favor of a more eco-conscious basket that the little guy would love.

To start, I'm reusing an existing basket that was part of an old gift we received.  Next, I lined the basket with a bed of fluffy Spanish moss that I had bought for my terrariums & orchids.  I still plan on keeping the moss for its original purpose once Easter is over.  Repurposing what we have equals less work on finding a place to store the items after use and trash going into the landfill.

Tim's Real Natural Easter Basket Grass - $8

If I didn't have any moss "grass," I would've bought this natural option.  Tim's Real Natural Easter Basket Grass is a great compostable, biodegradable alternative to petroleum-based plastic grass for $8.  It smells so fresh and it's grown on an organic farm in Vermont.  I've seen it at Whole Foods & it's also available on Williams Sonoma.

And now, onto the fun part!  I added a few of Jace's favorite snacks: a Spinach, Mango & Pear blend by Happy Tot (which I've been known to steal from him because they're so good), and Annie's bunny-shaped organic strawberry fruit snacks.  I constantly restock these in his diaper bag and my purse for emergency hangry moments.

Summer Strawberry - $5.99

Summer is coming up and we love being outdoors.  But not without sun protection.  I'll be reaching for this natural sunscreen.  The non-allergenic & tear-free mineral-based formula is perfect for his sensitive skin.  It does not contain any chemicals, PABA, phthalates, parabens, or fragrances.

This set of mommy & me aviator sunglasses means we'll be twinning while our eyes are protected from glaring UV rays.  At $10 for 2 pairs of sunglasses, it's a no-brainer that this is being added to the basket.

2-Pack Mommy & Me Baby Aviators - $9.99

After a long day of fun activities, Jace's is obsessed with bath time.  This gentle 4-in-1 cleanser works head to toe, keeping him feeling clean & moisturized.  Sometimes, I added a few drops of lavender essential oil to his bath to help him wind down.

BabyGanics Pure Mineral
Sunscreen Lotion in SPF 30 - $10.99

ACURE Bare Baby
4-in-1 Hand Wash, Shampoo,
Body Wash & Bubble Bath - $12

Yoobi's Jumbo Triangle Crayons look like a great "first crayon" for introducing Jace to the world of art.  Its ergonomic, triangle shape is designed to promote proper grip for writing skills.  Jace is still at the age of putting everything in his mouth.  According to EWG, many crayon brands including Crayola were tested & confirmed to contain absestos which are toxic mineral fibers that cause lung cancer & other serious diseases.  These crayons are non-toxic so, I feel slightly safer.

Lastly, Jace loves reading with lots of pictures and he loves putting puzzles together.  This jumbo puzzle seems like a winning combo of the two.
